Laser rangefinders tell you in a few seconds how far away something is. You aim, press the button and read the distance. It works with a laser, so it is fast and precise. That way you know how far away the game stands when hunting, and you see how far that bird really sits when spotting.
How do laser rangefinders work?
The device sends a laser beam to the target. It bounces back and the meter works out how far it is. This takes only a few seconds, even over a long distance. For example, the Noblex measures up to 1000 metres. You also see the number on a clear display, so you can read it in bright light or at dusk.
Size counts too. A rangefinder is small and light. It fits in your coat pocket or in a pouch of your bag. Moreover, the housing is sturdy, so it can take a knock and a shower.
What should you look for?
First, look at the range. How far do you want to measure? Choose a model that reaches well beyond what you need. Also check the magnification. The Noblex has 6x magnification, so you also see your target larger. Finally, look at the display. An OLED screen is easy to read, even at dusk.
