Tent poles carry your tent. Without a good pole the fabric hangs slack and catches the wind. With a sturdy pole the tent stands tight, so rain runs off and the tent stays up in a strong breeze. In this collection you will therefore find single poles, centre poles and sets, for your own tent or for an awning.
Tent poles: fixed or telescopic
A fixed pole has one length, so it fits one tent. Think of the centre pole of a bell tent. You slide a telescopic pole out to the length you need. You use it under an awning or a tarp, for example. In addition, there are sets of loose parts that you slot together. That way you make the pole exactly as long as you want. All poles use strong material, such as steel or aluminium, so they can carry a lot.
What to look for
First, check that the pole fits your tent. A pole for a Sibley bell tent does not simply fit another tent. Next, look at the length. A pole that is too short makes the fabric slack, while a pole that is too long creates too much tension. Also choose a pole that packs small, so it fits in the bag. Finally, store the poles dry, because then they stay good for years.
